Therapeutic Style and Approach

Sometimes, knowing something needs to change is easier than knowing where to start. We can work together to make sense of where you are and where you’d like to be.

I believe therapy should be a place where you can speak honestly about what’s going on in your life, even when it feels confusing, uncomfortable, or hard to put into words. My style is warm, thoughtful, and grounded in the belief that understanding ourselves is an important part of creating change. I take the time to understand your perspective, help you recognize patterns, and explore what might be getting in the way of the life and relationships you want. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, and I want our work to reflect what matters most to you.

In our sessions, we will spend time understanding what you're going through and identifying ways to make things feel more manageable. We might explore family relationships, practice setting boundaries, work through difficult emotions, or untangle the expectations you've placed on yourself. We'll focus on helping you better understand your needs, build confidence in your decisions, and develop tools you can use outside of our sessions. Change doesn't always happen overnight, but small shifts in how we understand ourselves and respond to life's challenges can make a meaningful difference.

A little about me:

My own experiences with mental health, relationships, family, and major life changes have shaped the therapist I am today. I know that life doesn't always unfold the way we expect, and figuring out what comes next can be difficult. These experiences are a big part of why I care so deeply about helping others. I want my clients to feel that they have someone alongside them as they work through difficult seasons, make sense of their experiences, and discover what moving forward looks like for them.

My household includes my wonderful husband and Basil, our Australian Shepherd/Poodle mix. Her favorite activities include going for walks with us, napping at our feet, and vigilantly watching for squirrels, rabbits, and anything that moves in our yard. She keeps us entertained and reminds us that sometimes the best part of the day is simply slowing down.

When I'm not working, I'm usually reading historical fiction or fantasy. I also enjoy walking, hiking, watching and playing volleyball, crocheting, scrapbooking, and traveling. I love having creative outlets and finding opportunities to explore new places and try new things.

Being the youngest in a large family has given me plenty of firsthand experience with the many personalities, perspectives, and complexities that can come with family relationships. I understand that caring about people doesn't always make relationships easy, and that learning to establish boundaries can be challenging, especially with those closest to us. These experiences have helped me appreciate how much our family environments can influence the way we relate to others and ourselves. I enjoy helping clients explore these dynamics, better understand their needs, and build relationships that feel healthier and more fulfilling.

Education and Certifications

I earned my Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Wayne State University, with a concentration in Family Systems. My education provided a foundation for understanding how our relationships, family experiences, and environments influence our lives. I draw on this perspective when helping clients explore their experiences and work toward meaningful personal growth.
